One hundred and fifty Spanish and foreign hikers will participate in the second edition of the Val d’Aran Walking Festival, which will take place from 1 to 7 July. On this occasion, the programme includes 23 excursions suitable for all levels of demand. Among them you can choose between gentle walks through emblematic places of the Val d’Aran such as the Uelhs deth Joeu or the Saut deth Pish waterfall, or more complicated ascents such as the Tuc de Aubas, Tuc de la Salana or Tuc de la Escaleta, all of them fantastic viewpoints.
NOVELTIES OF THE SECOND EDITION
Among the main novelties this year is the cross-border crossing from the Hospice de France to Bossost, through the Coth de Baretja, with the option to climb the Tuc de Aubas, the Mirador del Aneto. A day will also be devoted to discovering the Victoria Mine, the main representation of the Val d’Aran mining area at the beginning of the 20th century.
As for the traditional Marxa Naut Aran, which is celebrated on Sunday as the closing of the Festival, this year the Port de la Bonaigua Way will be held, a historic route that belongs to the “Camins Vius” network. The route starts from the Hermitage to the Port and goes down to Salardu, where the closing aperitif of the Festival will be held, offered by the Naut Aran Town Hall.
The Town Hall of Vielha will welcome the participants with a session of Aranese Dances and tasting of typical sweets and muscatel. You can also visit the new factory of Artisan Beer in Bossost, where you can make a tasting with pica-pica and music offered by the City of Bossost.
Torisme Val d’Aran offers a tasting of products from the Val d’Aran guarantee brand in the Bahns de Tredòs area. A visit can also be made to Aran Park, the wildlife park located in the Portillon de Bossost area. The traditional Bagergue cheese tasting and the night observation of stars will be repeated and, as a novelty, a medicinal plants workshop will be held.
