Get excited about the deer’s rut
Listen and see one of nature’s most fascinating spectacles
The first rains of the end of summer have already fallen, soon the temperatures will drop somewhat and the forests will begin to change color slowly… clear signs that we are heading towards autumn and with it, a spectacle of nature that every year arrives punctually: The Deer bellow or roar, a deep, elongated sound, which resembles a cow’s moo, that resounds in the forests at dusk. From mid-September to mid-October, males emit roars to attract females fighting each other, competing for power, strength and hierarchy, to conquer them and thus guarantee the future of the species. The Val d’Aran is one of the privileged enclaves of the Pyrenees where it is possible to observe this unique event. Come and discover the native fauna of the Pyrenees, with official guides from the National Park and the Aranese Natural Heritage. Enjoy a unique and wild show of wildlife in its natural environment in the Val d’Aran!
